VIVA Open Grants
As part of VIVA’s Open and Affordable Course Content Programs, VIVA provides four VIVA Open grant opportunities: Adopt Grants, Course Grants, and Grants for Libraries. These grants encourage the use of open and affordable course content by providing funding for instructors and libraries to adopt, adapt and create course content that can be made available to students for no or very little cost. More information on the grant program can be found on the VIVA Grants website.
Grants and Publishing Support
Course grants in the content creation category are required to collaborate with VIVA publishing services to produce a high-quality and accessible final product. Other course grant types are welcome to take advantage of publishing services.
What support we offer

VIVA provides publishing support in-house and in partnership with Knowledge Works Global (KGL). Services provide support for the full publishing process, from peer review to print-on-demand. For more information on which services are offered, visit VIVA Open Publishing services
Publishing steps
There are many steps in between authoring your textbook and seeing it published. To help plan your project, VIVA has provided
- A generic outline of the order of each of these steps [aka a potential timeline for your project]
- An overview of what is included in each step [forthcoming]
- A description of author and VIVA responsibilities for each step
As each project has different needs, we recommend you also schedule a time to chat with VIVA Open Publishing staff to discuss a plan for your book.
