Your Book—Multiple Formats
W&M Press uses the Pressbooks platform to produce high-quality, freely-accessible books and resources, beginning with a webbook. This format offers greater possibilities for interactive content and media, and is often the most accessible experience for students. Additional formats are then derived from the webbook. Your book will be available simultaneously in multiple formats, available on the book’s main page as shown in the image below.
We work with you to determine which formats are appropriate for your book, and which will be made available for users to download. Possible formats include:
- The webbook, an online HTML book (always)
- EPUB for use on iPads, phones, and e-readers like Kindle
- Digital PDF (links are active, good for computers or tablets)
- Print PDF (formatted for publishing as a traditional book)
- Two experimental formats: XHTML and WordPress XML
- Common Cartridge exports for importing into your LMS
Since many users prefer a traditional print book, we may also make books available through a print-on-demand service. These printed books are comparable to a traditionally published book.
