Hello Geographer! I’m Professor Finlayson, author of the open textbook World Regional Geography. This study guide is designed to enhance your understanding of core concepts and ideas from the textbook, and provide resources for learning more about our world.
For each chapter, I’ve written notes to supplement your reading. These include explanations of the concepts students struggle with most, more examples, and questions to help guide your reading. Each note from the author has a “Pre-Reading” section, which you should read before the chapter and highlights things you should pay extra attention to, and a “Notes After Reading” section that helps you better understand and apply what you’ve read.
I’ve also created interactive multiple choice quizzes so you can test yourself. There are also flashcards so you can test your knowledge of each chapter’s key terms. The flashcards use the research-backed spaced repetition system so you can breeze through what you know and spend extra time on what you’re still learning.
Lastly, I’ve curated a list of recommended additional readings, so if you’re interested in a topic, you can learn more! If you come across a book or article you think should be included, please feel free to reach out to me!
