Using VIVA’s Pressbooks
Anyone can view public books on VIVA’s Pressbooks. You do not need an account on the site. To search OER available on VIVA’s Pressbooks, review the main catalog or the sub-catalogs, which contain focused collections of resources on VIVA’s Pressbooks related to support or author.
Pressbooks or accounts on VIVA’s Pressbooks are restricted to those who are at a VIVA Member Institution. If a book has an author/editor at a VIVA Member Institution, they may also invite those at non-VIVA institutions to be a part of that book.
VIVA’s Pressbooks has mediated registration or books creations; in other words, only VIVA Publishing staff can create new Pressbooks or accounts on the site. To request the creation of a book or account on VIVA’s Pressbooks, complete the Request a VIVA Pressbooks form.
Accessibility
VIVA is actively working on ensuring the accessibility of our resources. The accessible versions of some Pressbooks may be available as EPUB or PDFs and will be linked from the resource’s homepage. VIVA has also enabled the Pressbooks Accessibility Authoring Tool.
To request an accessible version of a resource, complete this accessible resource request form. VIVA will then reach out to the author to collaborate on providing and/or creating an accessible version of a resource. If an accessible version is not generated within 6 months of a request, the resource will be removed from VIVA’s Pressbooks, regardless of catalog inclusion.
For more information, review the VIVA Accessibility Roadmap.
