Many Mvskoke speakers have patiently answered my questions about the language. I am especially grateful to the late Margaret McKane Mauldin, her sister Juanita McGirt, and to Linda Sulphur Wood. I have also benefited from discussions with Edwin Marshall, Rosemary McCombs Maxey, and many others. Any mistakes are my own.

The National Endowment for the Humanities (Dynamic Language Infrastructure/Documenting Endangered Languages Fellowship) provided me with the time to work on this project while also revising a dictionary. Rosie Liljenquist of William & Mary’s Swem Library helped convert the text to a Pressbooks format.

I have benefited from many discussions with Pam Munro and Aaron Broadwell about Mvskoke and related languages. More recently, I have enjoyed learning from Kimberly Johnson’s work on the semantics of tense. Dr. Monte Randall, President of the College of the Muscogee Nation, has provided advice on this and other projects.

This work is very much a work in progress. If you have ideas or suggestions, please let me know! Mvto!
