Guidelines for Submissions to Conversaciones Corrientes: Temas de Cultura y Sociedad

Overview. This open educational resource encourages lively conversation based on current events and topics relatable and interesting for learners of Spanish. Submissions should be no longer than two pages and written in a familiar tone. We are currently accepting short articles (see below for details), personal videos and artwork from faculty and undergraduate students of Spanish. Faculty and student collaborations are also welcome and encouraged. Additionally, we will consider original poetry and short stories. Authors and artists are allowed to submit one body of work at a time. Please do not include images in any written works (e.g., short stories, short articles, or poetry). Images will be chosen by the editors. If you are submitting a video, we ask that you include the following information:

  • name
  • institution
  • major / minor
  • why you chose to study Spanish
  • how you are using your Spanish now and in the future

Formatting and Style. All short articles and videos should be submitted in Spanish. Please include your email address and institution to which you belong. If you are submitting a short research article, all citations should follow APA guidelines.

Length and Format of Articles. All articles, short videos and artwork should be original and not published elsewhere.

  • Short articles: 300 – 800 words
  • Short stories:  300 – 800 words
  • Videos: 1 – 3 minutes long; recorded in YouTube
  • Artwork: original and not previously published

Please send your completed entry to lauriemassery@rmc.edu

If your work makes it through the first review process, it will be sent to the editorial board for a full review. If your work is chosen for Conversaciones Corrientes, we will notify you with further instructions.
